I was born in Oklahoma City, OK. I received my Commercial Art Certification from Foster Estes Vo-tech in May 1987. It was at Foster Estes that I began to explore how to use my art to express my thoughts and communicate my visions. This experience also inspired me to believe that pursuing a career as a professional artist was possible.
During my technical training I entered several works in art competitions; I was fortunate to win several first-place awards, which boosted my confidence and fueled my pursuit to follow my dreams.
In September 1987, I made the decision to pursue a 5-year commitment in the US Army. Those years were very challenging but also very rewarding. I was fortunate to have opportunities to visit many places around the world, viewing artworks and architecture of many different countries and cultures. Some of those works were original works created by some of the old masters, such as, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, and others. That overall experience inspired me to become a more inspired and focused artist.
In 2005, with the encouragement and support of my wife, Crystal, we decided to start our own business focusing on creating and distributing original fine art. We also mentor and support others that want to work as an artist. For almost 2 decades my work has been displayed in various galleries. And, I have participated in many art events including juried art shows, and arts festivals. Thankfully, my work has earned top awards in many of the judged exhibitions where it was entered.
My work has been sought after and purchased by Individual art collectors and business owners alike. Additionally, I am often commissioned to create custom paintings for private collectors. It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to bring to fulfillment the vision of my clients.
Along with some formal training, I have had the pleasure to study under some talented artist and participate in several painting and drawing workshops. However, I am mostly a self-taught artist. I believe my desire to create art is a gift from God. I am truly blessed and thankful that he entrusted me with such a precious gift. As I observe his magnificent work all around me, I am inspired to work intentionally and skillfully to inspire those that look upon my work of my hands.
I currently have artwork displayed in Masters House gallery, Moore, OK; In Your Eye Gallery, Paseo district, Oklahoma, OK.
I use many different mediums, such as oils, acrylics, pencil, and pastels. I have found that working with a variety of tools, trying different styles, and experimenting with new processes expands my ability to express my ideas in many different and challenging ways.
I am primarily influenced by the supreme creator, the Lord Jesus Christ. I understand that it was He who blessed me with a gift. And with this gift I am able to express, in my own way, the beauty of the world around me.
The inspiration around me is always fresh and new. I look around and observed many magnificent and beautiful works of the Lord. This is what inspires me to create. I start with a blank canvas, working intentionally and skillfully to hopefully complete a piece that will bring happiness and peace to others.
